Lifetime Achievement Award - Steve McPheeters

At this year’s awards banquet, we had the honor of presenting the 2024 Lifetime Achievement Award to someone who has spent decades working to make Sikeston a better place: Steve McPheeters. For those who joined us that evening, it was a special moment to recognize a man who has quietly and consistently left a lasting mark on our community. For those who couldn’t attend, here’s a glimpse into why Steve was so deserving of this recognition.

The Lifetime Achievement Award is given to someone who has selflessly dedicated their time, talents, and efforts to bettering our community. It’s about celebrating those who have made an undeniable impact through their work, service, and leadership. Steve McPheeters is the perfect example of what this award represents. A longtime Sikeston resident, Steve has been involved in nearly every corner of the community. From serving as the executive director of the Sikeston Area Chamber of Commerce to playing an active role at First Christian Church, his commitment to helping others is evident. Professionally, Steve has had an incredible career spanning over 20 years in financial services, including roles as Senior Vice President at MRV Banks and Community Bank President at First State Bank & Trust. He’s also contributed to industry and community growth as a leader at Noranda Aluminum and, more recently, as a Business Development Specialist for First Midwest Bank. In 2017, his contributions were recognized with the Distinguished Business/Industry Award from the Missouri Community College Association.
Steve’s involvement doesn’t stop at work. He’s been an active member and leader in the Sikeston Lions Club and serves on the City of Sikeston’s Industrial Development Authority. He also helped establish an award to honor contributions in the tourism industry as part of the Tourism & Hospitality Luncheon Committee.

And if you’ve ever tuned into KYMO, you might have caught McPheeters Beat, Steve’s weekly radio show, where he shares positive and inspiring stories about Sikeston and Southeast Missouri. His enthusiasm for shining a light on the good happening in our area is truly contagious. Steve’s dedication to Sikeston isn’t about accolades or attention—it’s about his genuine desire to make a difference. He’s been a steadfast Chamber supporter, a champion for local businesses, and someone who consistently uplifts others with humility and optimism.

Congratulations to our 2024 Lifetime Achievement Award winner, Steve McPheeters! Thank you for all you’ve done—and continue to do—for Sikeston. We’re better because of you!
