Tell us a little about your business:
The Southeast Missouri State University - Sikeston Campus serves as an educational learning hub for students in the Sikeston area and its surrounding communities. Like all of Southeast’s Regional Campuses, the Sikeston campus brings general education and four-year degree options to students in and around the Sikeston area, allowing them to receive the education, resources, and support needed to earn a degree locally while still committing to their responsibilities at home.
We are proud that we can provide a high-quality education to students throughout the Sikeston area while reducing their need to commute to the main campus.
What is something people DON’T know about your business, or what is a common misconception you see about your business:
We do not just offer courses towards a four-year degree in Sikeston. We are committed to making the entire college process simple. To do that, we provide academic support services, including tutoring, advising, and library resources. We offer diverse programs and small class sizes to provide a personalized learning environment and more one-to-one interaction. We also have our own admissions options and offer a lower tuition rate for lower-level classes than the main Southeast campus, Southeast Online, and many community colleges!
What is your favorite thing about doing business in the Sikeston region:
Of course, it is hard to choose only one. The feeling of community in Sikeston is fantastic. Watching Sikeston advance and grow through the years has been great as well. Overall, though, we enjoy getting to know the members of our Sikeston area community, especially our students. There is nothing quite like hearing about someone's passions and goals and working with them to discover the opportunities we can provide for them to achieve their desired future. Whether providing hands-on learning, helping a student choose a career path, or assisting students in applying for a Southeast A+ Scholarship, we enjoy being there and seeing our students’ success.
How is being an involved Chamber member helpful in your line of work:
Being a Chamber member is terrific for us. It is a perfect way for us to learn about new businesses while also creating a connection with professionals in the community. It is a win-win when we can learn more about them, and they can learn more about us and what opportunities we can provide.
