Beyond the Business Card - Sandy Mehner

The next time you attend a Chamber luncheon, be sure to bring a business card. We will be drawing from them to select Chamber members for our new Beyond the Business Card feature.  Read on to learn more about our very first draw--Sandy Mehner!

Tell us a little bit about the company you work for and your role there:

I am the Regional Retail Manager for the Sikeston/Miner branches.  I have been in banking for 25 years and 18 of those have been with Montgomery Bank.
At Montgomery Bank, we focus every day on making banking easy for our customers and treating each person we meet like family. We’ve been family owned since 1957. We take a lot of pride in providing the personal, friendly service of a community bank while offering all the conveniences and amenities of a national chain.

Why did you decide to get into this line of work?

I remember as a kid that going to the bank with my mom was fun! Maybe it was the fact that they always gave you suckers. I was given the opportunity to work as a teller when I lived in Little Rock in 1998. I quickly became intrigued with all of the different opportunities that banking had to offer. When I moved back to Sikeston a year later I continued my career in banking. I have had the opportunity to work in many different areas of the bank including the teller line, as a Personal Banker, Electronic Banking Manger, Customer Service Center Manager, and my current position of Regional Retail Manager.

What is your favorite thing about doing business in the Sikeston region?

I grew up in Sikeston. This is my hometown. We are still a small town, but we have a lot to offer!

What are some of the main values to being a member of the SRC?

The opportunities that SRC gives its members are very valuable to our community. SRC keeps you connected with events and community needs, and they provide professional development opportunities.  I am a Chamber Ambassador, and a graduate of Leadership Sikeston. Even though I have lived here most of my life, these opportunities have shown me businesses in the Sikeston area that I never knew were here.

What’s something you wish others knew about you and/or your business?

We make all of our lending decisions in-house, so you will not have to wait for a decision from an unknown banker halfway across the country.  We are grateful for the privilege to help generations of families navigate their most important financial milestones, from opening a child’s first savings account to buying a home or fulfilling a dream of starting a small business.  We enjoy being able to offer big bank products with community bank service.

Thank you, Sandy!
