Tell us a little about your business:
 

Southern Bank has been building a strong legacy for our customers and communities since 1887.  We opened our Sikeston location in December of 2005.  Southern Bank became a publicly traded company in 1994 and ever since we’ve been growing.  Today with $4.3 billion in assets we serve 50 communities in Missouri, Arkansas, Illinois, and Kansas.  We continue to expand offering retail and lending services and we now have insurance services, investment services, and trust services as well.  

 

 

What is something people DON’T know about your business, or what is a common misconception you see about your business?
 

Although some may not know Southern Bank is considered the farmer friendly bank in all of our market areas.  We have a team of lenders that were raised on family farms and have deep roots in agriculture to help serve farmers.  A misconception about banks in general is as they grow they tend to lose touch with their community bank roots.  Southern Bank is far from that in that we continue to expand in smaller rural communities that a lot of large banks tend to leave behind.  We continue to stand as a bank that has strong roots and strong branches in every community we serve.

What is your favorite thing about doing business in the Sikeston region?
 

We are proud to be a part of Sikeston and we enjoy serving our customers and making them feel like they can count on us to help them succeed.  

 

 

How is being involved Chamber member helpful in your line of work?
 

Being a member of the Sikeston Chamber makes us a part of a network of businesses that all serve the people of Sikeston and this region with a primary goal to make this region grow and be a better place to live and raise our families.    As Sikeston grows everyone benefits.
